Remembering World War I - The Donegal Story

Donegal County Museum’s major new exhibition on Donegal and World War I officially opened on Wednesday 24th September at 7.30pm.

 

This exhibition tells the story of World War I through the experiences of Donegal Men and Women at home and abroad.

 

Donegal men not only served the British Forces but with countries all over the world including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and America.

 

This exhibition is part of the Hands of History project is being led by Donegal County Council and managed by Inishowen Development Partnership, under the auspices of the Donegal CDB Peace and Reconciliation Partnership.

 

It explores a Donegal with many pasts and aims to work towards one shared future which will create strong peace and reconciliation impacts for those participating in the project.

 

This project is supported by the Special European Union’s European Regional Development Fund, through the EU programme for Peace and Reconciliation and is managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by Donegal County Council.

 

Admission is free and the exhibition runs until the end of January 2015.
